real reason is because a sony financial meeting discussed the potential split of the company meaning sony entertainment would be on its own and not under the complete umbrella of sony corp. this would allow more freedom to govern the profitable gaming, movie and music industry away from the hardware of tvs, music systems, phones etc

japan is also bouncing back from the recession
