So my ps3 has a blinking red light on it.
I press it, it makes a noise, turns on, goes yellow for a second, turns off, goes back to blinking red light.

I know my fan is clogged the fuck up with all kinds of dirt and shit so I'm pretty sure this contributed to it. Is there anyway i can work around it, perhaps clean the fan out, let my system cool down and fix it somehow?

What should I do guys...I came back after 1 year to my house and my ps3 dies on me. Imagine how the fuck i feel.

time for a new one. fixing it will only be temporary

you can youtube a fix but it usually only lasts like 2-3 months tops and can be about as expensive as sonys if you dont have a heat gun
send it in for like $200 get it fixed by sony
or just buy a new one

My friend had same issue used paste to fix the chip which worked for a couple weeks then he had the same prob

mine did that and got it repaired 2-3 times with new parts and still broke down

Only way would be transferring it to a USB, i think.


Also, i've had the yellow light of death, and got it repaired (twice) but it dies literally 2-3 months after, so it's best to just buy a new one.

Take out the harddrive on the left side of your PS3 and when you purchase a new PS3 old or slim put that harddrive in the system.

No system information is stored on the harddrive. Only game data which is universal to any PS3

Also you can always upgrade your HDD in the future..

i might be wrong but arnt certain game datas invalid when transferred now a days...to prevent trophy sharing

you have to format the hd for the new ps3 which wipes it iirc
with psn+ u can back up game saves n shit i believe the rest usb or external HD
trophys are saved within the psn account itself so you dont have to worry about those
