The Complete N00b's Guide To Ladder Slasher

To begin with, Ladder Slasher is a hack and slash RPG game that allows for team and individual play. The goal is to level your character from 1-71 and attemp the Master Quest which will allow you to unlock the next class. The season ends by a user passing as an alchemist which resets the ladder and all characters are reset as feeders and a new season of climbing begins.

Before playing, I will advise you to read the Help and Guides section on the left located HERE. 90% of the answers to your questions can be found there.

What Character to Chose
Choosing a new character can be a difficult decision to make. I will suggest you either create a Fighter or Barbarian and stick mainly to a pure melee build. I'm not saying you wouldn't be able to make a caster Mage or a healing Guardian, but for your first climb something simple and easy would be best.

Stats
As a melee character Strength and Dexterity will be your best friends and you'll want to maintain a balance of each. So your first 10 points should go into either Strength or Dexterity.

Weapons
Fighters and Barbarians can use Axes, Swords and Clubs. I would suggest swords if you can afford them as they can be used on the two next unlockable classes. If you can't afford them, I suggest Axes as the next best alternative or if you want something cheap, Clubs are a good choice.
For weapons, the only mod you are looking for on melee character is Enhanced Effect. Enhanced Effect (Also known as EE) increases damage on weapons, increases defence when on armors and increases charm power when on charms.

If you can afford it, purchase a Tier 3 Weapon off the MP with 30%+ EE. It will greatly increase your leveling time and you should upgrade to higher tier'd weapons when possible and if you can afford to.

More info on Tiers found HERE

Armors
Although Fighters and Barbarians can wear all types of armors, Medium Armors such as Scales or Leathers and Heavy Armors such as Plates or Chains are your best bet. There are three main stats you will be shooting for on Armors. Either Strength, Dexterity, or Enhanced Effect. Enhanced Effect will give you more defense and allow longer chains but will slow you killing speed while Dex/Str will allow you to kill faster but take more damage. Upgrade armors when you can afford to and the higher the stats in each the more efficient you will kill.

If you can afford it, purchase a Tier 3 Armor with any of the above stats.

Charms
With charms the only stats you are looking for is either Str/Dex. EE increases the power of charms but as a melee character you aren't attacking with your charms which makes the power of them useless. Just like armors, upgrade to higher stats when you can afford to.
Note: Only the stats on the charm in the primary slot count towards your total. Accesory slot information can be found HERE.

If you can afford it, purchase a Tier 3 Charm with either Str/Dex.
Arena or Catacombs
After you have created a character, you'll have two options for leveling. First you can play in Catacombs with up to 4 other players or you can chose to solo in the Arena. Both offer their own benefits. Although Catacombs allows for quicker leveling, it is often difficult to form a group. On the other hand, many users prefer to play in the Arena because of better chance to find items and gain proficiency points.
