So after getting turned on to fast cars by the the new 2011 Camaro, by seeing one posted in the graphic section asking to shop in rims.
Then I got to thinking about getting one, and thinking, and thinking. then after knowing I could afford one, I made the final call. Called GEICO and asked what my insurance would be, I thought this would be the glass ceiling. It turns out that it would raise only $20.
So I made the call and started test driving, I test drove the V8 SS1 Camaro and bought my dad so that I could drive with out the sales guy in the car. it was like having sex with out a partner, I loved it! I thought to my self, if I drove this every day I could go with out sex.
But a few things bothered me.
*The view was very limited, the windows are all chopped.
*The interior is not comfortable, its just not what you would expect form the outside. very rigid.
So, before getting locked into anything I thought I would test drive the competition.
So I got into a challenger and a it was also nice but it was large and heavy. turned like a brick too.
Then I hopped into the Mustang GT and this being the lowest hp out of the group, the camaro at 426, the challenger at 425. the mustang only had 315.
I have to say, I started out this endever wanting the mustang the least.. but it turned out to be every thing I wanted in a car.
NOW I will at some point get the 2011 mustang GT, it is a beautiful automotive experience. and I will have it. But in the mitst of all this car knowledge being force fed down my throat as fast as I could shovel it.
I happend to come across this amazing little car (if you could call it a car.)
The Ariel Atom is the closest thing to being on a motorcycle next to the real thing. (im scared to get a bike, I'm more then sure I would kill my self.)
So this summer/fall/winter/spring I am going to be building my own Atom. since the base price is $50,000.00 and mine will end up costing around $12,000.00.
I'm going at it in this order because while I want the mustang, Its the first year of a brand new engine and I would like them to have time to work out the problems and get some aftermarket parts out., and secondly after this is build I will be ready for a loan, but If I did it the other way round, I would have to wait 5 years to build the atom clone.
So it begins.
My first real dispute is what engine type to use.
My first idea was to use a friends 350 chevy short block and rebuild it. but that was just silly.
Then I thought I would go with the series first engine which was a Honda K20 iVtec 2,0 DOHC 230 hp with a possible 300 with supercharger.
I saw that the amercan modle uses a Ecotec 2.0 LSJ about the same stats.
And there is the rotary engine called a Renesis, I would snag one out of a 2007 salvage titled RX8 Mazda.
So, here is where I am. once I work this out I can start the chassie plans.
Here is a look at a real one.
