So, I was reading some of the poll on changing vitality on items, and I was confused about how it works exactly.

I've pumped points into Vitality now and again, and noticed my HP increase, as I would expect. But, I just read this on the LS Help page:

Vitality: Increases the physical defense for armor. For every 25 stat points you have in vitality, you gain +1 to Life Regen. Every Level Up you will gain an amount of life equal to your base vitality.

So, if this wording is correct, then a point invested at level 1 is more valuable than a point invest at level 10, because you will be getting a larger health bonus each time you level.

However, this does not mention why I might be gaining HP as I pump the stats in. So, should this instead say:

Vitality increase your life by an amount equal to your level per point.

tl:dr ~ What does vitality do, and how does it work?

this used to be in the past. after a certain update, it doesnt matter anymore if you put a stat into vita at lvl 1 or lvl 50. you will have the same result at lvl 50. <-- this is because a vita point increases the life by 2 at lvl 1, by 3 at lvl 2, by 4 at lvl 3 and so on.. so it makes up for the allrdy gone lvl ups.

you still get a life bonus every lvl up that is equal to your base vitality (without any vita from items/glyphs)

some phrases might be outdated as the portal hasnt been updated..

Got it. And, Vitality from gear & glyphs only applies to vitality's effect on armor, and does not change your life pool?

That really makes no sense, imo. No wonder people want a buff to vitality.

If they don't want vitality on gear to add to life pool, why not just call it something different, like Physical Armor Bonus or something? Its really counter-intuitive to have 1 stat that does different things depending on where you get it ...

Anyways, thanks for the help!

This is incorrect

if you decide to stat 50vita total on any character it doesnt matter if you do it on lvl 1 or if you wanna start stat it at lvl 50+
your life & mana pool will be the exact same.

It deosnt give you more because you stat more, it depends on the level you are.

yep thats pretty much right. vitality on your gear is only a nice add in case you are tanking.. else it is very close to useless. so some extra life (and then again.. there is the +life mod allrdy existing as a different mod) or any other bonus on top would be nice to rebalance vita on items

Everyone answered your questions about stat'ing points and whether they are on items like armor / weapon / charm.
Only thing missing in this thread.

Vitality / Intelligence Potions and Soften the Sneaky objective.

If you use a potion at level 50, you will ONLY get 1 hit or mana point to pool [this also applies to Sneaky] = loss of 49 [it looks pitiful, but it is still a loss].
Now, when you level up to 51, it will work accordingly... only loss is 49 for that 1 level at 50.

As for Sneaky... best to get that objective as soon as possible to reap the rewards.

and just so the info is put out there,
stat totems work like normal leveling points.
