Ha, it's been ages since I've heard this comparison

From what I've experienced, and read on numerous occasions, the two stats are completely independent of one another, and you shouldn't be trying to equate them in any way whatsoever.

Also since the weapon updates, str is as much a factor in critical strikes as dex, and I don't think I know anyone who would tell me 3str = 1 cs

also just a random thought from reviewing the LS portal, as out of date as most of it may be I saw this:

* Critical hits are subjected to a diminishing return ratio for base stats.

It doesn't mention anything about Critical Strike being subject to diminishing returns, so the modifier is much more useful for achieving cs' than having more base stats would be.

1 Cs = 3 Dex? I certainly hope not, especially when swords are being used, which use str as their dmg increment mod

Yep, what Cole said. Forget the old ways, pump CS as much as you can, and watch the red numbers fly. Even if your stat ratio is way off, it makes little difference if you can get the +Crit high enough.

Glyphs work wonders for this, as does Crit gear naturally.

going out on a limb here

when im shopping for new gear, im willing to consider dex vs cs at these ratios when looking at overall total/avg


on daggers 1cs =2dex
on staves 1cs=1.5dex
on axes 1cs=1stat

looking at this 27dex 2 cit is better than 33 dex
35dex 2 crit is better than 40 dex
and 53dex 11 crit is betetr than 65dex

on dagger, staves and axes

50 dex @35 is good even without mods
slash more, opinion less

tbh as cole said there shouldnt really be any comparison due to the diminishing returns its not about what is on the individual item as much as it is about your entire build and the rest of your gear.
