Brain has been working a lil overtime today and had this idea pop into my head. (I Blame it on too much coffee)

This is the idea i had.

Selling Ladder slasher chars for the profiency points put into them <-- the tl dr version

How its done:

Would work like a guild sale

Must be a lvl 0 character with no Mq attempts (so this doesnt lead into Selling alchemist crap that ruins game)

This would require a trade topic and the character stripped of all gear. A mediator to hold the Fg for the value of the character plus the character transfer fee (Off hand would make same as guild 1k fg needs to be high enough to pay for Pauls time in doing this. Ofc Paul would need to decide what Fee would be worth his time to do this)

Reasoning(s):

Would add a whole new aspect to the market of Ladder Slasher.

Would enable the "I like this aspect of the game but dont have the time" people to aquire the ability to do things.

Would bring additional value to fishing/glyphing/suffensing/Transmuting etc

Anyways this is begining of an idea brainstorm session so posts your thoughts

Not voting yet. I will think about it before I cast my, also coffee plagued, vote :)
But it seems like a feasible idea, I would love to sell my characters, but the problem is names :)

Since a player's LS char is directly linked to his jsp account, I am having a problem visualizing a char trade such as this happening unless you get onto the other player's jsp account :O

I'm not sure I totally understand. So you'll basically be selling proficiencies? But if it has to be a level 0 character with no MQs then wouldn't you not really have proficiencies anyways? Unless it would really just be used for fishing/cooking/muting and that other thing.
I just don't really see why anyone would do this. Spending 1k+ to get a character with some proficiencies on it just seems anti-productive to me.

If someone likes the concept of the game but doesn't want to spend time building up proficiencies then they should even be playing in my opinion. This game is all about time investment as well as dedication. I don't want some person to be able to come buy their way to the top of the proficiency ladder - they should earn it in my opinion.

I think I just don't fully understand it. So that's why I'm waiting to vote ;)

In past instances Paul has removed character from others accounts and put them into his own so i am assuming there is an ability to do this. Would take person intervention of Paul like a guild sale hence the fee like a guild sale

Basically the idea is for "skill" characters. Needed to keep it to something that isnt too powerful like selling chars with 30 sword prof/ warlocks alchemists etc. But to create a market for those who love too slash and think "i would love to have fish/glyphs/ be able to transmute this easy" but i just dont have the time. Creating a market for "prof leveling service".

i dont think there would be much of an issue about u selling weapon or charm prof. in fact that would be great. say you always used ice and u are tired of it and want to go earth. you can sell you ice prof char and get an earth one. i think that it shouldnt matter wut passes your character has made. just that during the trade your character or the one being traded rather will be reduced to no mqs and feeder class. wut do you think about that? wut do you think about that?

I think this is a very interesting idea.

I could really see this as a big market advantage for some players who have put a lot of time in the game.

People would build characters with like 5 into most profs just for the sake of selling it.

What would be interesting also is people selling their character that has like 30-40 in muting for a lot. I would imagine they could probably get 50-60k out of a char like that.

I think this is a very creative and awesome idea.

Yes from me.

Wanted to start with a stepping stone aka skills for now as a trial idea by keeping the idea small and limited (unsure since weapon profs were abused at one point inflating some of them)

maybe i'm not reading it right, but how is someone supposed to sell a character with high proficiencies that they have never mq'd?

/edit: what I mean is, how would they get the proficiency up?

Unless the only prof's you're talking about are the non combat ones (i.e. glyphing, muting, fishing, etc).
