So I recently aquired this bike, with a cracked piston. I had the bike bored out, put a over sized carb on it, stuck a bigger cam in it, staged the clutch and put a thunderhead performance exhaust on the bike. Runs like a champ.

Here's the thing.

This bike has the dual caliper/rotor front brakes. I have bled, and bled, and re bled the brakes. I can get it to havw decent pressure but it bleeds off within a few hours and I have no brakes again. Im not losing fluid. The system is a pain in the ass, to say the least, to bleed. I've taken the calipers off and pressure tested them and they held. Lines have no visible weathering and the master cylinder never has bubbles in it...

My question.

What the fuck.

This bike has a open recall for brakes which the dealership will not honor duel to performance upgrades (yet I have stock brakes). I'm at a total loss. Any help?

Any other suggestions lol. I'm basically asking if anyone can pin point the issue. I don't wanna buy new v
Calipers if its the master cylinder and visa versa.

Wtf they won't honour a parts recall because it has mods? That's fucking bullshit. Brakes are a major safety issue and performance upgrades should not have any effect on recalls from the manufacturer. I would suggest you get difficult with the garage/Harley Davidson.

You can't find out why they were recalled? A part will be failing and that could give you some clues?

Failing that sell that shit bike and buy a sports bike. Could probably get a MV Augusta or an aprilia for the price of a Harley. They are overpriced pieces of shit that spend most of their lives in the garage.

I have no idea why they won't. This is ridiculous though. The recall is for master cylinder pump staying open and leaving the brake light on, seems harmless, but the recall calls for them to rebuild themaster cylinder, so thata my best guess. Myself, I ride anything, more of a Yamaha guy, but this is set up to be my straight line drag bike, my first test pass on 1/4 mile (no front brakes so babied it) was 9.4 seconds. Not bad for what I have in it, buying the bike for 1200 and I have about $1, 650 into the engine.

I'd suggest to still try replacing the lines air is getting in somehow
Or pressure is leaking out somewhere maybe you can't see or it's slow and unnoticeable
And I'm prettydrunk and not a motorcycle guy but I will look again sober

My mom works at the company they are made at so I am getting a new set this week (just to rule thay out)

Edit to reply to your edit, that's why I am leaning toward the master cylinder because I'm not losing fluid, just pressure.

Yeah it could just be fucked even if air isn't getting it it could just be it's not working well because you say it works fine or a little while after a bleed and then stops again
