Background:

I'm getting tired of seeing these random threads appearing almost every day, asking about how to trade RuneScape gold, or how the (insert-method-here) method to trade RuneScape gold works.
Neither flaming at the initiators of these threads, nor ignoring them will work; they will most likely just repost again until they get a reply.
I, too, was once unsure of how to trade RuneScape gold, but I was lucky enough to get a chance to learn. However, it is not the same for all the newcomers to this section; people get tired of explaining the method's process and just ignore the newcomers queries.
Hence, my goal is to help those in need of information to become enlightened and hopefully prosper, and inevitably enjoy their experiences on not only on RuneScape, but D2JSP as well.

Note: Merchanting Forum Gold is NOT allowed. I have personally put Forum Gold into this guide, so please do not spam. I've worked hard on this. ^_^

This guide was written Dec 27, 2009. Last updated: Jan 29, 2010. Keep this in mind when considering accuracy. I will try to update it if anything major occurs. Also, it doesn't contain any non-entrepreneurial methods.

Getting Started:

You can't gain really RuneScape gold without already having an already existent stash of junk or gold.

What do I mean by this? Trading RuneScape gold isn't like it was a few years back, Jagex implemented a trade limit system that restrains the imbalance of total wealth transfer of each trade.
This is why special methods were developed to maneuver around these limits.
In order to trade Runescape gold now you must give something to get something. It's either going to be a preexisting source of wealth in terms of gold or more of a poorly demanded item.
What this means is you can no longer just arrange a trade where you give Person B forum gold and expect them to hand over the RuneScape gold in a jiffy. You must trade back something to undo the imbalance in your trade.

Now you're probably thinking: Wait a minute...doesn't that mean I'm paying people forum gold to just trade me regularly in game? Essentially yes, but you make profit off of it which will be specified in the following sections.

Junk Method:

The Junk Method is where you pay Person B your forum gold at a ratio of, general idea, 1 Forum Gold to 40k-60k RuneScape gold (1:40k-1:60k) in order for them to buy your junk.

Junk is usually an item that has very poor demands causing them to not sell in the Grand Exchange. Hence the reason you pay someone to buy it. Person B will buy it and attempt to sell the junk, which, if you think about it, is essentially buying you time to do other things.

Some examples of Junk include, for members, Adamantite Arrows P++ or Maple Longbow(u). For non-members it is mostly revolved around Willow Logs.

How this works:
  • Make a trade thread (Located: here) about whatever Junk you have, what ratio you would like, members or not.
  • When you have a buyer you arrange a meeting point and be sure to get confirmation on the in-game name of the other user, take screen shots before and after the trade.
  • After meeting up with Person B, trade them your Junk for all its RuneScape gold worth.
  • Depending on who is going first the last step and this can be flipped around, take the total amount of RuneScape gold and divide it by your ratio.
(Example: 1,000,000 RuneScape Gold divided by 60,000(1:60k ratio)
  • Walk away and enjoy. ^_^
Crash Method:
This method requires you to have a preexisting stash of gold. The more gold you have, the more you can buy back in return.

How this works:
  • Make a trade thread (Located: here) stating the crash method and your ratio, members or not.
  • When you have a buyer you arrange a meeting point and be sure to get confirmation on the in-game name of the other user, take screen shots before and after the trade.
  • You buy something that's in decline and/or poorly demanded at minimum price from the Grand Exchange.
Buying at Lowest, selling to other user for Market
Example of crashing item, note that the price has dropped rapidly:

You then trade this said item to Person B who buys it at the Market Price, which is higher than the Lowest Price because the Market Price doesn't always synchronize with the Grand Exchange prices right away, especially on a major crash.

For example:
  • You buy 1,000 of a crashing item that's worth 10 gold each at Lowest = 10,000 gold.
  • You sell this bulk of items to Person B for the Market Price of 15 each = 15,000 gold.
  • You walk away with a 5,000 gold profit and you pay Person B Forum Gold for that profit.

The more gold you have, the more you can buy back in return.
The common ratio for this method is 1:10k for the sole profit/loss during the transaction, not the item's worth.
Keep in mind, this method is more expensive than the junk method because you're getting

Blue Dragonscale Method

This method requires you to feel comfortable running around dragons and surviving for about 15 minutes around them.

This method can transfer upwards to 600k per hour if done right, 70 agility is strongly recommended as well as 37 magic with law, water, and air runes.

How this works:
  • Start in the western bank of Falador with a Dusty Key, anti-dragonfire shield, and some food to survive 15 minutes near dragons.
  • Climb over the broken wall and head west until the Taverley dungeon; go down the dungeon.
  • If you have 70 agility go through the tube and skip the next 3 steps, otherwise continue north down the hall; enter the gate where two suits of armor are guarding, you may have to kill them.
  • Go through the southern gate and keep heading east until you reach a two-way junction at the end of path and head south.
  • You will reach a room of magic axes, from there, continue southeast from the room until you reach a bridge near the Chaos Dwarves. Cross the bridge and head west, if you see hill giants, you've gone the wrong way.
  • Continue north along the path until you reach the lesser demons, then use your Dusty Key on the gate to the west and voila, you are present.
  • Pick up blue dragon scales that players leave on the floor. You don't need to fight the dragons; your job is simply to collect the dragon scales.
  • Fill your inventory and teleport back to Falador; bank the scales and repeat as necessary.
Blue dragons only stay aggressive for 15 minutes, so you can hide in a safe spot in that room or just start collecting if you feel comfortable with it.
**Another similar method would be picking white berries.
