id suggest gettin your atk and and str up first. you dont really need def early in the game.

Same shit, just use different attack styles.

Use the top left one, scroll over it for a few seconds and it says attack.

Click on the icon which has two crossed swords and hover over each option and it tells you what experience you'll gain, attack is usually the top left one.
