Problems with post options

Three options are currently present as buyable features for posts.
  • Italics
  • Red
  • Bold
My problems with it are as follows.
  • All serve the same purpose of drawing attention
  • Little cumulative effect
  • Bold is by far the most used
  • Italic is extremely underused
  • There are other good free ways to draw attention, such as ###### name ###### spam

Suggestions [please critique and contribute]

There are many simple small features I can think of that would be purchasable, synergistic, and further help remove FG from the system

Suggestion #1: 5-10fg - 6 Additional Thread pages

Reasoning: When people buy bold titles, its usually because they have an important item that they think will get many response, or they are selling a massive bulk pack with sometimes more than 60 items available.
It is immediately more useful to the people with a lot of items to sell, or something they know will be a firestorm of responses. Additionally, if this is something they need to let run for a very long period of time, it
provides flexibility.

-Less Likely addition- make this purchasable on the fly. Double the cost every time, 5, 10, 15, etc, but make this extendable by however many times the OP is interested.

Suggestion #2: 10-20fg - 2 Hour Bumps

Reasoning: There's already a massive amount of early bumps that occur on the forum. Looking through the front page of D3America roughly 5 of the first 15 threads I clicked on contained early bumps. If people are in a rush to get their product out, it would be worth taking FG from them in the process. This is also synergistic with bought titles & bought additional pages. People who want mass exposure are more likely to just make a ton of threads and early bump them for free, rather than make a paid title and get locked for early bumping. If 2 Hour bumps are purchasable, people will buy paid threads and get them mass exposure as well.

-Less Likely addition- 1 Hour bumps, 100fg. - massive rush? willing to take FG out of circulation? here's your stop.

Suggestion #3: 100fg & 15fg - Service Thread Only - Vouch Implementation

Many service threads are completely bogged down with meaningless posts of "I vouch for this person he helped me" or "show me proof, find people to vouch for you" etc.

This would be a simple implementation, similar to "likes" on facebook, or post likes/reptuation on other forums.

At the very bottom of the first post, above the signature, it would display clickable usernames of everyone who vouches for the original poster. There can be requirements for vouching such as 0% Warn, 1 Year on site, 1000 posts. Lots of variables up to the site owner to decide.

100FG to allow vouches, 15FG to vouch. Prevents random meaningless vouches, and also creates incentive to reduce the price of the service by 15fg in exchange for a vouch upon completion. Added synergy with purchasing additional replies to keep the vouches alive in the thread, creates an extremely reputable thread.

Suggestion #4: 1FG/Line - Editable Current Offer Sections

Many trade posts, ESPECIALLY packs, are extremely bogged down with repeat offers on the same things, possibly already sold or with far higher bids.

This part would be a list n this exact format of bullets, with a few characters of space per line, serving as the only editable parts of the first thread.

EXAMPLE

10 Baby Pandas for trade!!!

Accepting FG offers only, PM if you have questions. Willing to show in person.

----------------------NOTHING EDITABLE ABOVE THIS LINE----------------------------
  • 1: C/O: ----
  • 2: C/O: 150
  • 3. C/O: 200
  • 4. SOLD
  • 5. etc, etc, etc, etc.
--------------------------------------END OF POST------------------------------------------

Synergies: Massive trade threads that require many pages, need more exposure, also ease of access and general clarity, removing early bumps where the OP simply quotes the C/O.

Suggestion #5: 3 additional pictures

For some of the massive packs, the pictures end up extremely tiny. This gives a little more flexibility, and once again works well with other options.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU GUYS THINK!

1,2,3,5 i say no thank you.

but for #4, it could be something but it needs some fixing. maybe a small text box inside your first post which would be "editable" also laater, but by only adding, no removing. (for adding C/O etc)

or even just an editable hyperlink to the post #, kinda of how your 5th post in this thread already has #5 next to it.

whenever the C/O changes, you can update it with a direct link the post that contains the C/O. hard to abuse.

1. Redundant. Once the thread reaches 60 posts it auto closes, it would cost them the same price if not more as another bold red thread to add more pages? not needed at all and most likely not possible to implement.
2. Never going to happen. There will never be a lower bump, even if purchased, it would cause havoc in an already speedy forum. There would have to be a way to differentiate between a real bump and a purchased bump that is discernible by both the mod team and the regular user who reports a user for early bumping. Then people are going to see "hey that person bumped after 2 hours, i'm going to do the same." earlier bumps mean threads disappear faster.
3. Vouches mean absolutely nothing and are spam so there's no reason for this.
4. The only suggestion that should be implemented.
5. Not needed, the limit is to keep trade threads from being bogged down with images, if you need to put more images in place you can combine the images with paint or photoshop.

1)
No, just make new topic with old link.

2)
No, thats just telling people to break the rules.

3)
Waste of fg, pointless.

4)
I can actually see a use of this, like a add-on only.

5)
I never have a issue with this.
Text works perfectly fine with me.
It is just that people do not use the enter button and then people get annoyed and do not want to read.
