I think giving the option to close the thread to the person who made it is a great idea.

Some pros are as follows:

1. In the trading section, once a thread is done because the item has been sold/the seller has decided against selling, if the thread remains open it can be spammed.
2. Some threads are made as a service, however that service may not be available any longer (i.e. Level jobs and the like.)
3. It allows policing of your own thread to avoid having to have a moderator called if the spam gets out of hand...this also will help avoid it being closed and having to wait an hour for a repost.

all in all good idea,
but dont know how you want to skip the 4h bump rule, otherwise they will close the topic and say "cant post anymore in this thread" and open a new 1

possibly, but i doubt it will work smoothly. based on the stupidness of many users, they will probably close their own thread by "accident" and pm mods, thus annoying the hell out of them to re-open their threads

No, let it drop.

1. If it gets spammed report it, a trade assistant or trade moderator will take care of it.
2. If it's old, after a few days it will automatically get moved to the archive and nobody can post in it.

Voted no but I do not think you are a moron. It's not a bad idea but I think it would cause more of a hassle then a benefit.

As previous users noted I believe there would be a lot of accidental closing, face it, if you accidentally close a thread and it is not re-opened due to the fact that you hit close you would be angry.

There are features already in use on this site that closes the thread after so long of inactivity (3-5 days without a post I believe).
