Imo this would be a great addition. Think about it

The different standard statuses could be:
Available
Away
Busy
Brb
(add if you come up with any more)

There already exist user status when you go inside the profile. But out outside would be great too. Instead of this there could be like in msn green guy icon/orange icon/red icon/and some other icon for 'brb'.

Another idea is when you hold your pointer over the status icon it would say what your status is like in the profile like for example; 'doing ut' or 'trading back in 5 mins'

You already have the other icon when someone gets off after a certain amount of time. Enough to me, IMO.

hmm yeah but personally i find this really usefull in msn. Don't see why it wouldn't be as usefull on here
