Well you could:
A. When saving a jpg just lower the quality, instead of having it at 12, put it at 11 or 10, or more depending. It will drop kb a lot and there wont be a difference.
B. If you are using a gif, just lower the optimzed color settings from 256 to maybe 128, depending on the size and how much quality you lose.
hm, maybe that will work on the animated gif i got, it has only 6-8 colours... 256
