I can't speak to your personal preference, but I'd suggest The Art of Learning by Joshua Waitzkin.

World champion chess player and BJJ brown belt under Marcelo Garcia. Amazing book.

Actually, you're probably looking for http://www.amazon.com/Mixed-Martial-Arts-Book-Knowledge/dp/0977731561

Which is also an amazing book, I don't own a copy of my own but I really want one. The first book I mentioned is more about the cerebral part of this type of competition.

"street based with serious intent"? Yeah.. that's got fucking JKD written all over it..... lol.

Then I'd probably try one of the millions of Gracie Combatives books, or that gnarly book that Bas Rutten wrote. In particular, http://www.amazon.com/Brazilian-Jiu-Jitsu-Self-Defense-Techniques/dp/1931229279

Either way, you're not looking for something "street" based. You're looking for a self-defense book. There are no "street fighting" books.

ummm i would consider self defense and the street to be one in the same, and anyone who has actually ever been in a fight with a stranger on the street would probably agree :-/

but that is a very nice suggestion ty keep them coming

and JKD>BJJ from my perspective

Not a surprise given you think martial arts is running off walls and doing acrobatic feats.
