So Jones AND the UFC have known about this since the 23rd.

Their PR team has had plenty of time to decide what they're going to do, so all of this was pretty much calculated to a tee.

100% they told Jones exactly what to do, when to do it, who to leak the news to, etc.

He's not in rehab because he has a serious addiction by any means, this is just to mend his public image.

no shit, doesn't surprise me. the nfl knew about ray rice before shit hit the fan as well. these corporations don't fuck around when it comes to things like this.

True enough but anyone that doesn't believe cocaine has serious effects on people hasn't ever been around a cocaine addict. I've seen one person inparticular get the crap beat out of him while not using drugs and then a few years later able to fend off several attackers while high on coke. I wouldn't say he won the fight while high but he didn't get his ass kicked like before.

In my opinion, he should have his title taken. This is supposed to be a serious sport and doing drugs should result it penalties like every other serious sport.

lol you act like the coke he took a month in a half before the fight had something to do with the smashing he put on cormier. the kid went out to the club and did some blow, so what? you gunna strip him of his title because the guy snorted a little coke? as for the serious effects, short term cocaine use really isn't as bad as people make it out to be. and lol at non ped drugs that aren't even on ban substances listings resulting in penalties, i guess we should also penalize fighters who drink alcohol at bars and clubs as well?

this is probably the most accurate assumption on how it went down the last couple weeks since the results of the test were available.

Who knows if it's even an addiction or not. A LOT of people use it casually at parties, like I said before. He may have just used it a few times (although I'm sort of skeptical of that) or at least not enough for it to be a true addiction and happen to have done some blow within the few days or week of the test at the beginning of december.

I'll also second that he has smoked pot and probably does still. I personally know someone who got high with JJ after his first fight in the UFC in Minneapolis

Know what I think? I think they should make people who are applying for welfare take a drug test... lol

Anyways... you're point is a good one. Most jobs don't test for drugs. Some do during the application process and never after that and in my experience and from what I have heard, very few jobs/unions/whatever actually test beyond the application process.

Jon Jones/In-competition v Out-of-competition
Some people are under the mistaken impression that Nevada (And WADA and others) allow cocaine use and prohibit marijuana use. This, of course, is false. But the people saying that are pointing to the fact that Nick Diaz and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr were busted for marijuana and were penalized and Jon Jones was allowed to fight despite being found with the metabolite for cocaine in his system a month before the fight.

This is because of the rules of the World Anti-Doping Agency. Diaz and Chavez Jr. tested positive while in-competition. Jones tested positive out-of-competition.

This is a link to the WADA code: https://wada-main-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/resources/files/wada-2015-world-anti-doping-code.pdf

Here are its definitions of in-competition and out-of-competition:

"In-Competition: Unless provided otherwise in the rules of an international Federation or the ruling body of the event in question, “In-Competition” means the period commencing twelve hours before a Competition in which the athlete is scheduled to participate through the end of such Competition and the Sample collection process related to such Competition.

Out-of-Competition: Any period which is not In-Competition. "

Jones was tested on Dec. 4, 2014, about a month before his Jan. 3, 2015, fight. He tested positive for benzoylecgonine, the metabolite in cocaine in that test. Given that it was more than 12 hours before his fight, it was considered out-of-competition.

It's hard to understand, but those are the facts.

Didn't know he did it a month prior. And what smashing are you talking about? Jones went in there and out wrestled him to make a point. I don't recall dc being dazed or in trouble once. Imo was a boring fight. Didn't live up to all the hype UFC built it up to be (not that they ever do anymore).
