How would you compare soda to beer in terms of weight gain? I dropped sugary beverages a while back so that I could drink more, but I'm not sure it's really working out. I'm 6'1, 155 lbs, 21 years old, and do little physical activity aside from 1-2 visits to the gym a week to play racket ball and run a mile or so. I do drink ALOT of beer though, 1-3 forties a day. What might be some basic things i can do/not do to keep my belly from expanding that doesn't envolve cutting out the carbs? Anyways, soda vs. beer, any clue there?
Hey buddy! Nice to see you over here. I'm glad to help you.
First off, I don't recommend ANY sugary beverages or high carb drinks to rely on weight gain. I suggest
dropping that altogether if you're serious about this.
Comparison: A standard bottle of Lite beer= 110-120 calories // Similar sized soft drink = 160+ calories depending on the soft drink
As far as stomach size...I recommend doing some cardio and ab exercises; i.e. sit ups, crunches, reverse sit ups (leg raises). You can have a beer once in a while but I recommend cutting it down to about 1 x a week and have one beer. Try that.
Carbs are always necessary of course, so instead of liquid carbs, how about switching to brown rice about 2 x a week? Also if you're in need of a sugary/carb beverage you can also try something like a reduced calorie drink.
Bottom line: Stay away from beers and soda if you want a change.
