I've always been really curious to this one facet of the sport. Why do the weigh-ins occur a day before the fight, often times allowing people much too large to fight in their current weight class. It seems like it just gives a biological edge to some competitors, which kinda hinders the integrity of the sport to begin with. Thoughts/opinions? Maybe you know something that I don't

44 views without one opinion. Is this issue really that under-addressed?

Health issue. the weigh in the day before help their body to rehydrate enough. Many pro athletes gain 20 pounds within 24 hours. If they weigh in the day of the fight, it can be dangerous.

If they weigh in the day of the fight they wouldn't cut weight
Not dangerous

Seriously, either allow no weight classes, or make fights at the actual weights.

it will literally ruin the whole aspect of nutrition which is ridiculous

people like Anderson Silva would be HW with Jon Jones

and GSP would be LHW probably

Anderson could easily be lean at 205...

Yes he goes up to 230 etc, but he's chubby at 230.

Jones would be hw and GSP would be mw.

Sounds good to me...
