I love this freakin game. I hope I can get my kids to play it, if my girlfriend ever wants to decide to have a few

Yeah I seriously put in some hours on this game, his sword was so beautiful to me, and what it meant was even more powerfully moving.
end game I designed full weapons and armor better than what could be found/ the celestial weapons at full power.
Armor sets:
Auto Haste
Auto Shell
Auto Protect
{situational}
Weapon Sets:
Triple Overdrive
Break Damage Limit
Triple Ap
1 Mana Cost
I had made Tidus three swords, that each had Brotherhood's graphics but one for each best case situation, casting, attacking, capturing
Oh a funny thing, I found out how to gain like 255 sphere levels in minutes.
Make the weapon:
Triple Overdrive
Overdrive to AP
Triple AP
Gillionaire
Fight Cactuar king, put overdrive state to when allies take damage.
Goof around reviving and doing minor damage to the King
3x characters get insane levels.
Oh I could go on, when I first beat the Neslug I ran around the room being cheered by my friends

I think Auto Protect is situational too. Once you max out luck, you get to dodge physical attacks way more often, so imo it's ok to have one character have Auto Phoenix instead oof Auto Protect and have someone cast Protect on that character as soon as the battle starts.
Ribbon is also very important, you need it against most of the Dark Aeons. I was never too much of a fan of Break HP limit though, even if Penance could do around 10k damage on you while you had max stats and shell/protect (Dark Bahamut could also do this too sometimes). That battle was very, very hard. I didn't use Wakka or Rikku either, so that made the battles even harder xD
About the Cactuar King trick, I personally prefer to do it with Don Tomberri; imo it's quicker (and safer, for when you are underleveled).
Farming for Luck&Fortune Spheres, and Dark Matter from Dark Yojimbo was a pain though
