Some people (namely south koreans) call starcraft a sport, disregarding all of the facts that which make up a sport. Starcraft is not a sport, a sport is something physically challenging namely football, basketball, baseball, soccer (futbool as they call it in europe) golf etc. Starcraft does not require any physical applications, but it only requires brain activity and thinking much like chess, or checkers. You cant call something a sport just because it is competitive, you can make ANYTHING a competition, and I can't stand these annoying nerds who think this is a sport, starcraft is NOT a sport and they gotta stop discrediting the name of sports.

looooooooots of people take this video game outrageously seriously. some to the point where it's almost unbelievable.

many of those nerds you'll find right here on d2jsp. back down on earth, starcraft will always be a video game at the end of the day, and nothing more.

100% agreed. Those Korean guys with 400+ APM have no physical skills the average person lacks.

Take it as serious as you want.

It's still only a game.

It's certainly not a traditional "sport", but this is just an argument of semantics. Starcraft 2 does have a physical aspect. The amount of APM and endurance they have actually does require physical training just by playing such a sheer amount of games.
It is competitive, there are teams, winners, and losers. There is a game and a purpose. I would just label it under an "esport", which is definitely a real thing.
