was people getting hacked by downloading bogus addons.
everyone knows addons that aren't downloaded a lot should not be downloaded at all, there's a famous & trusted addon for everything these days

Definitely get the Curse Client, it will show you some popular add-on's that you can use in-game to enhance your gameplay. I'd recommend picking a single character to play with, and sticking through with that one all the way to 85 and then eventually to 90 once Mists of Pandaria comes out. There's a lot of other websites that will probably be better for individual character development, they will have in-depth guides on how to use your character and what not.
