This whole let it die shit is really sad to read, why should something that brings joy die?

I have really enjoyed coming back to D2 on occasion, playing for a month or so gearing up. I have always found it to be great fun, but with a public dupe method out? man, that will hurt the community alot. Bots have always been there and are fine in my opinion, they make great equipment avalible more easy for players who don't play so much.

But a public dupe method not being fixed... It will be bad. Hopefully, blizz will figure out a way to fix it.

Exactly. I've been playing on and off since before LOD was even released and it's always been fun.
I understand it's an old game but I'm not going to give up and let a handful of dupers/hackers ruin it for the rest of us.

exactly. the only way to properly sort it would be to change their system of item id's. they would need every single item to have an id. even runes and jewels that are socketed into base items and maybe an item id history if upgraded runes.

this however would take a lot of work and a massive rewrite of their system which brings us back to the point of they won't invest lots of time and money into programming this game again. they don't do any work on it at all now. they are all focused on patching and adding to their legacy games which are much more important to them now in terms of number of players and financial gain.

a quick hotfix they could do is changing the spawn point of jehryn. This would stop 99.9% of the dupers who downloaded the program from being able to dupe. most people who downloaded it simply follow the step by step instructions and have no idea of how it works or how to modify it. so changing one step of this process would baffle most users. but they would probably be able to write a new hack and release it within a few weeks.

I find it funny that so many people think they are professional programmers/coders and they think they could fix these issues with the snap of their fingers.

although i voted for clean slate and reset i think the dupe should go on for a bit. you know how many people are duping right now and before they couldnt? pub dupe will put everyone on the same playing field. its not just that but if you want someone legit and perm now, you have to find it, make it, or pay gg for it yourself. when pvp gets for real i remember i would pk someone w/unperms and drop the game. plus now we all will be running around with hybrids, perfect items, ect. also this is legit deal on nl. now ppl wil have multiples of multiples of all valks wizzys occy rings ect.

who wouldnt want a shit load of gfgs at a cheap, free hand overs?

if you want legit gfgs, you'll play like you always did.

Last time there was a mass public dupe (ty Charsi) they created Uber D to try to remove some of the sojs.


I say let it ride. It's just d2. It's been hacked to some degree since the beginning, and people have been saying "games dead" for years now. Nothing new here.

I think it would actually be an awesome idea if d2jsp started its own d2 server (if blizzard shuts down the official one). Would be really epic. Not sure about the legality and if njaguar would be okay with something like that. But I think it would be awesome.
