When are they planning to add graphics?
As soon as minecraft adds graphics ;eyeroll;
Any more smart ass's? Go back to runescape, bloody guys complaining all day.
I'm glad I ended up trying xsyon, I liked it due to it NOT being that same game I've already played 100 times with the same dwarf armour with the same elf blades and the same europ style knights armour influence. Its actually based on natives, so it has some really orginal and historic sets of armours, items, baskets, building parts ect. For example my main guy is wearing a bear's skull as a helmet, bear bone sholders and forearm for high STR stat, I also made these parts with some deerbone leather n parts, deer is FORT stat, the rest of my armour is all deerbone, I have a deerhead chestplate, upper leg and shin, boots and gloves, shirt and pants, knee guards and mid-arm guards (mines a row of bones).
They have historical leather armour sets, clothe tailoring sets for both male and female as well as grass sets. Bones are bonecraft. Each one of these has a basic form, a artisan form and a master form, each one using an additional different item or two depending on the item. Theres also 800-1200 schemes/blueprints in most crafts, so your looking at a insanely deep crafting system.
Liked skyrim? This game will almost instantly feel like it. Most people who play skyrim have tryed a sword and shield style player, this is how xsyon plays, you have a weapon and a off-hand parry weapon that you'll use as a sheidl/blocker.
Its also "Use's" based like skyrim, want to become better at armed combat or pickaxes? use them!
Liked Minecraft sandbox? This game is pure sandbox and not crappy low grade boxes either, we're talking like wall plans, canopys, roofs, totem poles, platform, ramps, baracades, spiked detourants, floors, ect you use all these different parts together to make whatever you want.
No server resets, so you won't loose your work. Build to your hearts content and never loose your stuff, unless your log off for 2 months straight, along with everyone else in your tribe, for every member in your tribe, a zombie spawns and guards your defenseless base, but it also removes your totem that protects your lands and all your items are raidable and destoryable by other players. You can prevent this by logging in once every 39 days, at 40 days your things are open, near 60 days and your totem is removed (your tribe is disbanded)
You can group build, group hunt, start recruiting to build a large tribe, or be a hermit.
I have a tribe setup atm that is roughly 16x larger then a single solo persons tribe, this happens when people join your tribe, your boarders expand, my tribe has 24 subscribed people, and roughly 17 free to play members.
Freedom to actually effect the world in a meaningful and long lasting way, you actually effect the land around you, don't like that rock? destory it, its gone. Don't like that tree? cut it down, turn it into wood planks to build with, or wheels to make carts, or poles to make tools or handles to make weapons. Don't like that grass? Pick it up, turn it into thread, string, twine, rope for lots of use's reusing materals or make things out of it like baskets for storage that you can lock on tribe lands (free game off tribe lands) Don't like that hill? take out your shovel and dig it away, flatten it or turn it into a pit.
Can fish to feed yourself, or forage for plants ect, they're coming out with farming and cooking soon so that should be good.
No pay to win, no cash shop, no advantages of money. You can play for free, you cant start a tribe and be a leader with your own land if you do this however. You will also be limited at 30 skill for everything, but the game will be 100% open and free to you without limits or timelines. If you want to try the game out for free like this, or continue playing the game for free, I'd suggest locking your skills at lvl29 (skill menu, dot to the right of it, click till its a lock icon) this will make it so your skill doesnt go up at max at 30, so you can keep grinding your skills for use's and stats, where as if you hit 30 you'll get a "skill gain limited" message and get no stats, use's or skill for it.
Its better to just pay your dues, once you have a account its 10 a month after that, but you dont need to pay it every month if you dont want to, your account isnt stripped of you, you can still log in, you just are again limited at 30, but you CAN keep your tribe, start a tribe and be a leader, so this is a good option if you wanted to be a stay at home mom and build without caring about your stats. If you wanted to leave your home without being killed by the wildlife, I'd suggest subscribing at least early game till you grind your hps up through masonry and bonecraft to boost fort through the use's of those two skills.
The bad:
~obviously everyone wants to play for free and they dont want to pay a monthly fee, but it costs more just walking into a punk show, or a club or a bar or into a concert or having a couple beers or going to the movie for a couple hours, where this is 10 bucks for a unlimited month, I'm hard pressed to find this much entertainment for that price anywhere in my entire town or country. So if you have no job or your living at home and are underaged this could be a problem and a major con.
~When you start you prob won't be able to kill anything, not even a rat, so theres some basic grinding that needs to happen early game if you dont want to be a 2 shot hero.
~Grind heavy game, if you don't want to spend countless hours doing something for skill level gain or stat gain then this prob isnt for you, but this gives you insane customize ability over your persons stat growthing the way you want it.
~ZERO NCPS. Yeah re-read that. No computers, no missions, no quests, no lore, no universal bank of every inn keeper to buy your every junk item. 100% player ran/driven/trading world, prices flux depending on supply, demand, bartering and haggle'n as it should in any market. There ARE player ran quests on tribe quest totems, choped into 3 functions, hunting, crafting and gathering. Some people would rather have a list of mindless tasks to do like a delivery boy or a quest pointing at who to kill, so some people see this as a con as well since your forced to make up your own mind on what you want to do with the world and the people in it verse having a main quest line tell you how to play.
~There is no teleportation of items when you put them on your trade totem, other people can read your other trade totems placed in your allys tribe, but they have to actually travel to the physical totem you left the item on to make the trade, bit more real but alot of people view this as a con.
~Does not have 10k population. It just got green light from steam so its kind of understandable, but they are putting in a 2nd server and plans to expand the map more so both servers are larger are in the works, however this is also half the charm of the game, the population is very dedicated and friendly, very willing to help you get started. Its also not a over populated world, you won't see half finished afk projects every 2 feet, you'll see some, but not nearly as many as there would be if this game actually advertised itself.
Me personally I'm big on combat, pvp and hunting, my guy is based around that so I do alot of bonecraft, masonry and combat training by using my weapons on a tribe mate whos parrying to block them, we'll take turns so we can do more dmg and block more dmg. I can kill most nonmutant animals myself, the black bears give me a bit of problems, theres maybe 3 players in the game stronger then me atm so these bears are pretty fearsome to the majority of the population, coyotes too, seemingly invincible hehe. Mutants are what happens when a fully aged animal goes into the edges of the map into the mist. The mist would kill you or me over time like poison in ticks, but to a fully aged animal it turns it into a mutant that has over twice the health, is alot larger and does more dmg. For example theres platback hamsters, scaled coyotes that look like their skin is snakelike, bluetip deer with blue tip'd spikes coming out of their spine n horns and shadow bears being the most fearsome needing a whole tribe or a small army to kill.
I figured I'd post my 2 cents here since I often felt like your discribing with alot of these games and this was what cured it for me, I got so many projects on the go there and the multy player aspect is really great. The green light is starting to pick up the player population, but again don't expect 10k if you check this out, just don't let that factor win the battle and I'm sure you'll meet lots of people and enjoy the game.
