July 31st 2013, Version 0.89.7
Hi everybody, Ian Underwood here. Today, I'm going to talk about how we're changing the IP system. Long story made short: more IP for everyone!
With Infinity Wars, we're trying to create something that is actually quite daring:a free to play game where every card in-game can be earned by playing the game, while also allowing players to freely trade those cards between each other. Additionally, we decided early on that creating a system where some cards were not tradable was not acceptable to us. This is a trading card game, every card should be tradable, no matter how you got it.
This brings with it many concerns about abuse of the system, and because of that, we've had many iterations on the IP system. Once again, we are trying a new iteration, and its our most generous yet.
As before, we have the system of the soft-cap. Players can reach this daily cap however they wish, PvE or PvP. After the soft cap of 1050 per day however, we will be giving IP for any game played in random matchmaking based on the length of the game (in real time, not turns). The amount of points you get per minute is quite generous. While there is technically a daily cap, it is set so that a player with a 50-50 win ratio would take 12 hours straight playing to reach it, high enough that 99% of players wouldn't ever hit a limit.
We changed it to this system because we want players to always get something after playing a game of Infinity Wars. Additionally, with the recent release of non-gameplay affecting purchasable items, such as card backs, avatars, and battlefield skins, we're now able to lean on those for the majority of our income as a company, rather than things that affect gameplay. We will always want cards to take effort to collect, or we think much of the appeal of a trading card game is lost, but our goal has always been, and always will be, for players to be able to build a strong collection just by playing the game itself.
In other exciting news, pre-orders for the next set, Rise, are now available! These pre-purchase tokens will be available to open on the 17th of August (at which time pre-orders will close). On August 31st, Rise will officially be launched, and thus the first ever expansion set for Infinity Wars will be live!
Change Log:
The Daily Win should now properly display that it has been completed this day.
All customization items will no longer say “Purchased!†in the store.
Some Promising Ass Notes if you ask me.
