Medieval is my favorite also.
And it took me roughly 3-4 weeks terraforming the island i placed it on and building the castle. with 9-13 hours a day put into it.
Gathering the bricks were the hardest part.
80% of it is cobblestone and cobble stairs then 10% brick then 10% is stonebricks.
All vegitation is all hand placed got a little nether portal in there leading to a nether hub which leadss to my mine and my sand quarry and my farm.
Wish i could update to 1.4.5 and have some fun with tripwires and trap my castle and put the world up for download and see how many people i kill.
Have you tried to manually update minecraft? Like finding a 1.45 jar file ( which is easy to do) and than locating your .minecraft file and replace the two?
