Uhhh, isnt Mercilus more of a DE? Maybe thats why he isnt panning out at OLB
I don't know if Romeo Crennel will rotate him around. We're thin at right defensive end after losing Antonio Smith in free agency. Crennel is likely to move Jadeveon Clowney around, playing both at RDE and ROLB, the same way he used Willie McGinnest (similar size as Clowney) with the Patriots in 2001 to 2004.
Whitney Mercilus was drafted to play outside linebacker (LOLB in particular). He played better when Brian Cushing was on the field. Obviously we're set at LDE with Watt but we also need to draft a big nose tackle in this draft. They signed Jerrell Powe, a 6'2 331-pound NT from the Chiefs but he's very inexperienced.
Romeo Crennel likes those mammoth NTs that weigh 320 to 350
And I'll be surprised if we ever get anything out of this guy..
