The Wentz injury is good for the Eagles come playoff time.

Foles is a decent QB. The way things set up, he will have basically 3 preseason games then a bye to get ready for a 2 home games against opponents that will probably be a warm weather/dome teams. Foles will be rested and sharp while every other team had to push hard down the stretch for their playoff seed.

Most importantly, opposing defensive coordinators will have almost no meaningful film of him to game plan against. The Eagles only need to win 1 or 2 more games to clinch top seed, so Doug Pederson doesn't have to show his hand offensively.

Also, Foles might just be a better QB than Wentz.

I wouldn't say it's Foles gold. I would say that both QBs are equally mediocre (slightly above average, roughly on par with Eli Manning). So there isn't a huge dropoff from one to another. With Wentz, I was putting this Eagles team about on par with last year's Cowboys (13-3, lose first playoff game to an opponent with less talent but more experience). Foles doesn't make it hard for the team to stick to the same narrative.

We always hear the stat about how the NFL MVP doesn't win the SB that year. With Wentz, the Eagles were on track to be become part of that trend. Foles shakes things up a little, helping them avoid the trap.
