Baas and Moore Return to Practice

Good sign for the Giants: C David Baas (knee) back at practice, which means there's a good chance he plays vs. Broncos.

Baas wearing a small brace in his left knee. Looks good otherwise in brief time we got to watch practice.

Damontre Moore is practicing. Dan Connor is not. Adrien Robinson stretching with team but off on the side.

Prince Amukamara running on the side in the hot, hot sun. Looks fine. Have to think he will be cleared from concussion tomorrow.

David Diehl taking reps, but only kinda sorta. Was doing the walk-thru drills last week too. Still has wrap on thumb.

All in all GREAT news... we absolutely need Prince, Baas & Moore Sunday

Victor Cruz on what he has seen from Wilson this week.

Quote
In an interview Tuesday on ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike" show, Giants receiver Victor Cruz explained what Wilson is doing to change his mindset when it comes to holding on to the ball.

"It's just an attention to detail with him," Cruz said. "I mean, he's got to be able to tuck the ball under his chin. He's walking around with the football 24/7, around the meeting rooms, around the locker room, even during practice when he's not in that specific play -- he's gonna have a ball in his hand to just get used to keeping it high and tight and putting it under his chin and really paying attention to detail to it.

"That's the only way you can help with that, is to change your mindset from what it used to be, to really locking the football down under his chin and covering it up."

Wilson is going to be ready and explode... guarantee you he breaks one off for a long TD run Sunday... or at least a long run

Giants' Insider: Jacobs May Play A Bigger Role Than Expected

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/fo...icle-1.1453065

Quote
Excerpt: "Brandon Jacobs came to play.

The newest addition to the Giants’ backfield made that clear on Wednesday, after his first practice with the team in nearly two years. The 31-year-old dismissed the notion that he was brought back as a “mentor” to David Wilson, who struggled with fumbling problems in the opener. He sounded more like a man after Wilson’s job. “I’m not really here to be a mentor to David,” Jacobs said. “I’m here to work with David. I’m here to team up with David to get this thing done.”

Jacobs, who rushed just five times for seven yards in San Francisco last year in a season he described as “a curse,” clearly expects some kind of a role in the offense — and it could end up being a big one. Da’Rel Scott, who replaced the benched Wilson on Sunday, suffered a knee injury in practice.
The good news, according to a source familiar with the situation, was that an MRI Wednesday afternoon showed no structural damage. Doctors will still monitor Scott over the next few days, and his status for Sunday’s game against the Broncos is uncertain.

Jacobs is looking like the No. 2 RB — and that would be just fine with him.
“How productive do I think I can be? I think I can be as productive as any running back in the National Football League,” Jacobs said. “That’s the way I feel now. I feel fast. My weight is down. I feel good about the opportunity I have in front of me right now.”

Jacobs weighed in at 265 — down, he said, from 290 last month. He said he’s “still trying to get myself back into football shape” but believes he “absolutely” will be ready to play on Sunday."

Wilson/Jacobs oh yes.

Who remembers this Brandon Jacobs quote?

A few years back after the Giants had run all over the Ravens (250 yards rushing I believe). A reporter asked BJ in the locker room what it felt like to be tackled by Ray Lewis. His response, "I wouldn't know".

Cowboys strategy was very clearly to hold Wilson up, wrap him up and try and strip him.

Wilson just has to get his yards and either go down or get both hands on the ball and he'll be fine.

Broncos might have shut down Ray Rice but David Wilson is hungrier than ever and eager to prove to everyone he belongs.

Tracking the 2013 Giants Defense vs. the Other 31 Defenses

Quote
After all of our talk about the defense this past spring/summer and how it needs to improve, I decided it might be cool to track our D week by week and see how they measure up relative to the rest of the league. Obviously we're going to need a few weeks for the picture to start clearing up since the sample is limited to just one game right now.. but this is how it looks after Week 1:

Yards Allowed: 331 (15th)
Plays: 74 (7th)
Yards per play allowed: 4.5 (8th)
Turnovers Forced: 1 (T-5th w/ 7 other teams)
Pass Yards Allowed: 244 (15th)
Net Yards per Pass Attempt: 4.8 (4th)
Rushing Yards Against: 87 (18th)
Rushing Yards per Attempt: 3.8 (20th)
Sacks: 2 (T-5th w/ 8 other teams)

Points allowed is obviously the major omission here but it's because I can't find the numbers that do not include TD's scored against us on TO's. Technically, our D gave up 22.. but 36 were counted against us. If anyone knows where I can find the number of points allowed by the defense ONLY, let me know.. I'll add it.
