cant do that. One of two things will happen... he will plead, and theres 0% chance he'll get the death penalty. He'll probably get 25-life and still cost the taxpayers a fuckload of money. Other option is it'll go to trial and cost taxpayers a fuckload of money for investigations, trial, attorneys, etc. and might have the same result. The trial will get delayed and delayed and delayed for years while defense tries to gather non-existent mitigating evidence and subpoena witnesses while the taxpayers pay for him in jail. Not what I want obviously... but just playing devil's advocate. Let's be real.
He said it's in a small town which makes me nervous. I'm from a town of less than <2000 people, and am in like the biggest town in 50 miles. All the court systems around here are a joke. I hope his is better than they are up here. Theres no way he should be able to get off with evidence like that against him... if his mom saw him go to wash off the knife, I'd hope they were able to take it into custody, or his clothes, etc...
Realistically though, I don't give a fuck about my money as a taxpayer if it's used to keep trash like this locked up or put to death.
But from the heart, I'm really sorry for your loss man. I haven't lost any close friends before, and I couldn't even imagine how that would be... You've got my full support.
