I hope this kid can make the team. Too much competition at the position but you never know sometimes - great players keep working hard. The player I really want is the guy throwing him the football (Johnny Football), moving very well on the run or inside the pocket, the complete opposite of Matt Schaub. LOL

0% chance he makes the roster. I had him going to the PS tho. The only guy I can see making the 53 man is Ray Graham or one of the other RBs we grabbed in the UDFA.

Such a slow off-season that the biggest Texans news this past week was J.J. Watt tweeting about old television shows.

Home Improvement re-runs are the best.

DeAndre Hopkins' development
May, 13, 2013

By Tim Kavanagh | ESPN.com

It was no shock when the Houston Texans took a wide receiver with the No. 27 overall pick in the first round of last month's draft; after all, we've been hearing about their lack of a true complementary receiving threat to Andre Johnson for years, so using a high draft pick on a possible solution is logical. The plan, then, is for DeAndre Hopkins to play a significant role right out of the gates. How is he progressing along that pathway?

Tania Ganguli of the Houston Chronicle writes that Hopkins made a number of impressive catches during the rookie minicamp this weekend. And the coaching staff was beaming with pride on their new weapon.

"He's special," HC Gary Kubiak declared. "Ball skills are extremely special. Very long -- long arms. Big hands -- you saw the catch he made out here today. He's going to help us early, and we know that. That's why we brought him here. Right now, it's really a matter of settling him down mentally and learning what he's doing so all the skill keeps taking over where it's not a bog-down process. It's going to be a big six weeks for him."

We'll get a better sense of Hopkins' capabilities once the rest of the team joins in for the remainder of spring work and then at training camp. But for now, it's so far so good.

He looks like he could become a difference maker as a rookie. I hope Keshawn Martin also plays a big role this season. We need all the vertical threat we can get because the offense has looked one dimensional and boring for a long time. They had seven pro bowlers on offense last year - almost the entire offense - and they still struggled to score points the final month of the season and two playoff games.

He might be looking impressive, but isn't that kinda what rookie camps allows for. It's basically just tossing the ball up to the recievers, they should be making catchs... I hope it translate to the games.

I feel the same way but it's okay to have high expectations for DeAndre Hopkins. He's supposed to be the best wide receiver the Texans have drafted in the past ten years (since Andre Johnson in 2003), so hopefully he'll step in and command immediate respect from opposing defenses. Teams will still be focusing on stopping Andre Johnson for a couple more years. That will allow DeAndre Hopkins to make a lot of big plays in single coverage. If we're lucky DeAndre will eventually blossom into an All Pro and it will be a smooth transition when Andre retires. We'll still need to draft another wide receiver to compliment DeAndre. LOL

Ed Reed led all NFL defensive backs in allowing broken tackles — percent measured from the sum of solo and broken tackles — at 22.7 percent, or a total of 15, second in the NFL to 18 by the Titans’ Michael Griffin.

Still a ball-hawk though.

I'm not arguing that, just thought it was post-worthy. His shoulder problem really does affect his game in a way you can see from that stat, as well as all of the plays he doesn't wrap-up, going for the hard-hit instead (resulting in fines sometimes). I'd still take him on the Ravens over Huff ofc.

We don't give up a lot of big runs so I'm not worried that much.
