I don't want to come off as a dick, but the lady simply isn't fit for the job if the school is loose with discipline.

I used to ride the bus with a school monitor too and he/she would get tons of abuse from the older kids at first. But as they reassured their authority by getting in their faces/physical or at least "getting down" with them they would realize who was in charge there.

It isn't a job that you can do passively as much as people would like to believe otherwise. As kids get closer to/into their teenage years they learn to project themselves and push their limits as far as they can. Invariably, some of them WILL be assholes to everyone and constantly pick on people who don't fight back or are easy pickings (i.e. bullying). Now, the lady is really nice and all but it's not like the kids care - they're in a bus, they want to feel powerful and there isn't anyone to put them down to earth which should be the monitor's job.

The school obviously needs to step in at some point and harshly discipline the kids but it's not like it's an example of humanity devolving. It's psychology 101 at work and kids abusing passive authority figures is nothing new.

kids do that to other kids on the bus all the time whats so different for her?she gets a funraises dedicated to her while kids have to go to school with ppl like that daily? lol
if anything she should be expecting that .. feel bad for her cuz she was crying n shit but shes not fit for that job... but wh oknows maybe thats all she can get for a job i mean who wants to be a bus monitor
those kids deserve a good slap across the face showem whos boss tho u can blame parenting but we all did shit like this we all swore behind our rents backs while they thought we were little angels
