I have never seen a pitcher who hit his spots every single time give up four hits, including a homerun. None of the hits were hit hard. That's the unluckiest debut I've ever seen.

Well that's what lady luck will do to your confidence. Getting all his spots in the first inning yet gets crushed on the scoreboard. When he comes back out, he has no confidence.
