Hi,

Atm i have a media PC: (total crap: dual core M up to 2.58ghz - 4gb Ram - 500gb HDD - integrated videocard ...bought it new for ~250€ 2 years ago) had windows 8 but free upgraded to 10
and i am thinking about buying a new laptop for overall use, because this laptop even freezes sometimes when i just try to open my Hotmail mailbox ... or some news-sites etc (crappy internet explorer - slow Chrome) + cant run virus protection cuz of sloooooooooooow

what i want to do:

- multimedia (watching downloaded video's on my 4k TV)
- word / excel / ...(or ios pages / numbers / ...
- laying on my couch with laptop on my lap (so i want something not heating up to much)
- no need to play games or video editting etc
- i want a really portable device and long battery life (this laptop is 1 hour of surfing / youtubing and battery is dead... so i have to keep it almost plugged in to do some text - editing etc...

was thinking about macbook 12 (long battery life ... runs smooth for almost 8-9 hours, dont need hardcore gaming specs ...)
and also because i have iPhone from work / iPad air2 (wifi +4G) from work / iPad air (wifi) (from myself)
problem: costs like 1500€ ??? crazy but i can afford ... np
and i have a 2 GB external HDD with ~1.8 GB worth of music / video's / series / programs i would like to keep, but i searched and forums say i cant use it between windows/mac without reconfiguring + losing all data ...

i would keep this laptop anyway just to download all shit (so i dont waste a new PC with virusses / crap etc)

is there another windows option that also has very long battery life / portable / nice screen etc (i dont need a 15"/17" laptop on my lap) / low weight ??

my mate tells me ... just take a laptop with SSD since u use external HDD for all data

some thoughts ?? also about my HDD between mac / ios

thanks for reading all my shit and helping or giving your opinion :)

~Tim

The external HDD was filled from a Windows laptop?

From all that too tl:dr, I would just call Apple and ask them.

If they say it's possible to convert or move the data on your external (used by a Windows laptop) for use on a MAC, go for the Macbook.

Sounds like you're firmly on the Apple path.

Call Apple and ask. They would know better than anyone, if you can convert or configure that external to work with a Macbook.

/e Tbh, I would say you would be better off with a Macbook, for light weight, great screen and long battery life.

I don't think you can, on a Windows PC.
