Okay, I built my own computer a while ago with the help of this subforum. It is absolutely awesome and no problems. But, I moved recently. Obviously this included unhooking all of my wires and cords. I just set it up at the new house, and there is something wrong with either my resolution, my screen, or my graphics card. My screen is a Samsung SyncMaster T240HD (is my first problem not having an HDMI cord and using one of those blue plugs instead to connect my screen to my PC?). Anyways, when I start it up, everything seems fine but everything is pretty fuzzy, including the words I'm typing right now. So I thought, I could live with this, whatever. I tried starting D3 and it was lagging beyond belief. I played on the highest settings at my old house with the same screen/PC so something is very wrong. My graphics card thing is an AMD Radeon HD 6800 series. My brother who knows a little bit about computers started digging around trying to solve the problem of why I can't run D3 and why everything is fuzzy as all hell. When I first started D3 at the new house, it said my Intel graphics card needed to be updated for its drivers. I'm not using an Intel card though, so now I'm starting to think D3/my computer is only recognizing my on-board Intel graphics card instead of my AMD one. I tried disabling the Intel card but it won't let me.

I thought all of this could be solved by me using an HD cord rather than the blue one to hook up the PC and my screen since it's an AMD Radeon HD and my screen is HD. So I finally found one, and when I hook it up, everything is less fuzzy but I can't access my desktop, it's just my desktop background and there's nothing else. Finally, a cursor showed up and I managed to get to an option that said, Show Desktop, and then my screen cut to black and my screen said No Signal. WTF is happening? Everything was working fine on the same settings a few days ago, just a different house. I'll pay 50 or 100 fg if you want and you can help me.

i have to ask....

did you plug the monitor into the graphics card or the motherboard slot?

the no desktop thing is because its treating it like an extended desktop not the main screen.

Which one should I plug it into? I was just about to ask. I'm forgetting the blue cord and just trying to use the HDMI slot, but I notice there's 2 HDMI slots in the back of my PC.

For future reference, I know nothing about computers which is why I sound retarded.

I'm plugging in the HDMI cord, and getting no signal when I change the input on my screen to HDMI 2

you'll use the slots on the video card itself.

is there more than 1 hdmi slot on the card itself?

No only 1 hdmi slot, 2 VGA slots though. But there's another HDMI slot toward the top of my computer.
I plugged it into the card's HDMI slot, but still says no signal when I change it to the HDMI input on my screen. Looks like my problem worsened.

use the slot on your card.

make sure its getting all the way in the slot. if you have any metal overlapping the card right near the plug it may be causing it to not go all the way in.

also restart your pc once you plug it into the hdmi slot on your card.

I got it working, but I have no idea what the hell I did. The HDMI cord was plugged in fully. There was something very wrong with the graphics card or something. It had something to do with detecting which display I used as my main display, or some shit like that. I have no fucking clue... I was just pressing buttons for a while there.
