Hello,

This seemed like the most appropriate place to post this question...
It's not really a hardware/driver issue or an issue at all, just more of a convenience...
My question is regarding the storage of usernames and email addresses.

My computer since I've had it has not remember any email addresses or usernames. By this I'm referring to being on a website and having logged in previously. The next time you want to log in, usually there will be a drop-down menu where you can choose from the usernames or email addresses you've used before. This is not the case for me. Every time I want to log into a website, for example D2JSP, I have to re-type all the information without it giving me the choice of choosing my username (ForumMaster) from the list.

With my previous computer it gave me this choice and I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for me to try in order to get this option working. I hope I explained my question thoroughly enough. I've of course already looked online to see if there was anything on this subject and perhaps there is and I didn't search for the right thing. However, when I looked... I couldn't find anything useful. Thanks for your time!

I know with firefox, it has the option to clear this info each time you exit the browser. Same with cache, history, active logins, etc.

Most browsers have the same type of setting, just depends on which you are using.

Also check to see if your browser is deleting cookies each time it exits, that could cause the need to reload pages/info each time you visit after closing/reopening the browser.

I've tried both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer to see if there's a difference between the two. I went into internet options to make sure that Auto Complete is checked and that cookies are enabled. I keep my browsers up to date.

Do you run CCleaner, if so, go into Options > Advanced > Cookies
In there, you will see a window with left and right side....for a site like D2JSP.org....find the cookie on the left side, highlight it, and move it to the right side. That way, when you run CCleaner, it won't "clear" the JSP login cookie(s).
Same is true for other trusted sites.

No, I do not run CCleaner, so this doesn't apply to me.

This also applies to programs that clean temp files, cookies etc...

Afew others I can think of are Glary Utilities, JV16 Power Tools....of the better versions.

...and any number of comp cleaners from less reputable companies. Most all cleaner, PC speeder-upper programs will also remove cookies. The cookies are the problem if a site does NOT remember your login. Some sites, have check boxes or settings that determine how long cookies may be stored on your comp as well. Browsers as well, deep in the settings, have cookies handling settings.

check your:
start->control panel->network and internet->internet options->content tab->autocomplete settings button

also ensure that the protected storage service is running:
start->control panel->system and security->administrative tools->services->protected storage
i think you want to set it to automatic, then restart your machine.... not 100% on that, i don't use it.
blackviper recommends it to manual for vista and win 7, and auto for xp.......

Autocomplete settings were enabled as default. I havn't changed anything on this computer than that of my old computer.
I'll try changing the protected storage setting to automatic, however it only talks about saving passwords, not usernames.

Regarding programs that clean my computer and have cookie settings; I am not using one at the moment, nor was I using one on my old computer.

After changing protected storage to automatic and restarting my computer, there was still no change when trying to log in to anything.
