I'm assuming my PSU failed, but lets see what you guys think.

So yesterday after work I got home I turned on my computer, and as it started to boot up I went to go change. When I got back to my computer it was off, and I was like hmm... WTF, I swear I turned it on. So then I tried pressing the power button again and nothing. Interesting. So I unplugged the computer for a few seconds, plugged it back in, and it started booting up again. Okay, I thought to myself, seems to be turning on now. Well, as I sat there waiting for it to boot, when it got to the blue Windows loading screen, it turned off again. Shit! I tried turning it on again, but again, it didn't turn on. So I again unplugged it for a few seconds, then plugged it back in and it started booting up. This time I paid attention to the internal fans to see if they are running and they were. I could not see the PSU fan though. Anyways, it boots up again and this time doesn't even get as far as the windows screen and shuts off. Again, doesn't turn back on. I unplug it, plug it back in, but this time it doesn't work. It won't turn on. I unplugged it for longer, then plugged it back in, and again nothing. The thing just won't even turn on now.

To me this sounds like a PSU failure, but I wanted to see what other scenerios, if any, this could also be? I have a aftermarket CoolerMaster 650W PSU I bought when I beefed up my desktop to play Skyrim on my PC. So I do still have my stock PSU upstairs and was going to start the troubleshooting by swapping them out. But just wanted to get some opinions.

Thanks.

Safe mode requires me computer to turn on, on my two attempts where it did actually turn on, I didn't press F8 for safe mode, so I don't know what would have happened. But now it just simply won't turn on anymore.

well then yeah, try the older PSU...make sure you didn't accidentally know the front panel connectors off or loose , when messing around in case.

/e another outside chance is clear the BIOS by removing, waiting 10 minutes and replacing the CMOS battery on the motherboard.

Yea Jim sounds like a PSU issue. Install your older one and see what happens. If both PSU'S were modular, this would be a simple task ^_^
