i rewatched ep 1 since i didn't recall hearing that.
just my thoughts.

He was fighting without limiters at the time and i assume that takes and enormous toll on Chamber as Ledo said "burn out".
That gun weapon and those bracelet/anklet laser things he used at the time i think were independent of Chamber and didn't use his energy since they were discarded pretty easily (possibly they had their own charge)
He was then grappled by a Hideauze before he could fire off the suits lasers (which looked similar to how he shot up the pirates just probably stronger in this case) and then after that told to retreat by his Captain, then Chamber reapplied the limiter on retreat.

I assume he doesn't use much energy with the limiter on.

I think he just maximized the power output of that gear (gun/bracelet/anklet..) and they all 'burned up' very quick, hence discarded.

This theory just blew my mind

The whole "coexistence" thing kind of puts a spin on things. Imo if they go that "peace with the squids" route it would sound pretty boring but it'll be interesting to see what happens, heck maybe the brown girl might finally be relevant.

My theory is that the space squids are highly adaptive to the most powerful species that provoke them, so its like an arms race where as the humans grow more powerful so do the squids. The solution no one ever thought of among the space people is to make peace with the squids, but that would sound idiotic. But if they make peace with the squids, a new species of bad guys might appear. Then a humanoid leader of the squids will show up (preferably a female and falls in love with Ledo to cause more drama) and team up with the humans to fight the new species.
