you say that but after watching them a few weeks ago again, how could you really follow the first one ( if you had to make a sequel) ?
The story of the human world had to progress and it was nearly as interesting as the escape from the Matrix.

Gonna just throw in my 2 cents here, the real reason why the matrix was good is because the directors created an entire world, not just a movie. The history of it is amazing, anyone who has seen the trilogy and hasn't seen the Animatrix is missing out on a TON of good material. Those short films are all soooo fucking good, most of them up to par with the first movie. Aha moments happen all over the place, and it adds so much to the story. Watching Animatrix->Matrix->merovingian's part in 2/3 is pretty sick. I just wish they spent more time on the merovingian. If they really are making 2x more movies they had better include him a fuckton.

The Matrix's first one is awesome. The second is good one too and can't remember much of the last one.
