Sorry but your budget confuses me. Are you saying you will have a budget of 160 + sale price of old card?
Or your budget will only be the sale price of your sold card?

If you are interested in rebates:

290 for 330 after rebate

290 for 300 after rebate
http://www.ncix.com/detail/xfx-radeon-r9-290-double-99-93750-1120.htm?affiliateid=7474144

the xfx is still my choice if no rebate, because its the best price 290 atm.
the 3 fans makes the card be a little cooler, but that may not matter to you - options available though :)

here is a comparison between your gtx 670 and a 290

If you're not dying to upgrade, it may be pertinent to wait a bit until the new Radeons come out in march/may. It will lower prices of everything on the market and maybe give you better bang for your buck.
Gtx 670 is still a pretty OK card, otherwise, 290 gets my vote.

alright thanks was thinking 290.

cheers how well do they cool there not like the reference cards right? also the 960s 4gbs editions coming soon and 970 prob drop as well.

290x is nice but expensive

290x and GTX 970 seem to be the best cards in your price range

If those are too expensive, then yeah the 290

I wouldn't count on the 970 dropping. Nvidia is always overpriced.
also the 960 kinda sucks for that price range.

The xfx i think runs around low 80s and i believe the tri x runs around 70's or lower. if heats an issue would take a look at reviews for each specific card to compare exact numbers since these are off top of my head.

It's really personal preference. Sapphire will run cooler. Xfx will be warmer but has life warranty.
then factor in obvious price differences.
Me personally, I would get xfx because I value the 30 dollars and lifetime warranty is nice
