Have about 1200$ to spend.

Can't decide if I want to go with a lenovo y500 with two 750m in SLI

or if I ant to go with a desktop instead

Used for all things internet

I mainly play LoL, Diablo 3, browse web, watch videos, stream audio and video.

I'm not looking for builds I'm just provoking discussion between the two options.

If I go with desktop I won't have a monitor, OS, keyboard, etc. So basicaly starting from scratch.

My biggest concern with going to desktops is that I've always been a laptop user and don't know how I feel about losing the option for mobility.

thoughts?

Buy a 1200$ desktop that performs like a 1200$ desktop
or buy a 1200$ laptop that performs like a 700$ desktop

Its up to you
how important is mobility to you?

That's the number one issue I struggle with.

that's all a very good point, and while I haven't done any of that recently I don't know how I feel about the idea of losing the option.

Same here. Never really enjoyed being stuck at a desk, I do that enough during the work week. Long gaming hours are nice at a workstation, but that isn't my style anymore so the laptop is a lot easier and much more convenient.

If I was gonna game for 6 hours straight, I'd want a desk with a comfy/ergonomic chair, but I havn't done that in years. I'm more of a "oh shit I actually have a day off and a free hour right now, maybe I'll play a game or two of LoL" gamer now.

To be entirely honest I don't need the mobility nearly as much as I used to.
It's just the thought of giving it up irks me.

The reason it's a debate though is the cost efficiency and upgradeability of a desktop is a very attractive option. Not to mention more power in a desktop.

Get a Galaxy Tab 2.0 10'1 for $300, spend $900 on desktop.

Lmk if you want a solid $900 build.
