Hey guys, helping a co-worker with a $700 budget gaming rig.

Location: Australia
Need OS? - No.
Need a case? - No.
Need an optical drive? - No.
Need peripherals?- No.

Everything else? - Yes.

Extra information -

The budget doesnt not need to include a SSD, as the budget is abit tight, and I dont think he'll mind the speed of a normal HDD.
He will be playing games, downloading, streaming and surfing.

Please, only suggest items from this website - http://www.pccasegear.com/

And yes, we will be buying within 3 days.

Any further questions, please ask.

Will be paying 100fg to build I choose. If any of you guys decide to edits someone's suggested build with a part(s) of ur own, please tell me why u made those changes. THNX GUYS!

This is a budget build that will run most newer games, there's room for upgrades as well, listed below.

Motherboard: ASRock H77-PRO4-MVP

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mainpage=productinfo&productsid=20084 89 AUS$

CPU: Intel Core i3 3220
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mainpage=productinfo&productsid=21350 118 AUS$

RAM: G.Skill Ares F3-1600 8 GB (2x4gb)
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mainpage=productinfo&productsid=19632 79 AUS$

Graphics Card: HIS Radeon HD7850 2GB
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mainpage=productinfo&productsid=23237 199 AUS$

HDD: Western Digital Blue 500GB
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mainpage=productinfo&productsid=15934 56 AUS$

PSU: Antec VP550P 550W
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mainpage=productinfo&productsid=18877 69 AUS$

Total: $610.01

If you replace the CPU with the i5-3570K and motherboard + cpu cooler it'd last much longer but it's a bit over budget :

CPU: Intel I5-3570K
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mainpage=productinfo&productsid=20138 235 AUS$

Motherboard: ASRock Z77 PRO3
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mainpage=productinfo&productsid=19864 99 AUS$

With these you'd need another cooler, the coolermaster hyper 212 is cheap and does the job well:

Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?mainpage=productinfo&productsid=18670 35 AUS$

With these changes, the total would be: $772.01 However I believe this is a much better buy, as with overclocking you'd be able to tackle many games for much longer than the cheaper build.

*edit:

Okay apparently the links are broken. I've written the names to the right so you can search on them for yourself :)

Weird, each time I click on a link, they all just bring me to the homepage of Pccasegear :S wtf is going on, lmfao.
Had to copy and paste each link individually to get to the link xD

Anyways, I saw the build have a few questions.

Is that power supply great for budget builds? Will it be good enough to run everything fine without worries? and is it reliable?

7850 is enough to run most games fine? I don't expect him to want to play Bf3 on ultra, he plays games more like, starcraft, abit of cod etc. But wants to try new games out. so the 7850 should be enough for what he wants yes?

Will there be a huge difference between an asrock z77 extreme4 and a z77 extreme4-M ?

Yeah not sure what was going on. I've added the names so you can search the individual items.

Probably a normal ATX case. At least that's what I assumed with my build.

Yes he has a mid tower ATX case. I cant remember the name, but it should fit everything fine.

Just wondering, that 7850 u suggested or this? Gigabyte GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 2GB coz I thought intel with nvidia would be better? :S woud they perform about the same?

No there's not a big difference, but it's a microATX board and if the case doesn't support smaller motherboards (which it might not, if it's old) it won't fit.

Its cool, we decided to get the Asrock z66 Extreme 4 motherboard.

We're just trying to find out which would be better out of the 7850 or the gtx 650 Ti, both 2Gb, the gtx 650 ti slightly cheaper.

The 7850 is a faster card, and it's only 4 AUS$ more. I'm an nvidia fan myself, but for the price the 7850 is quite powerful really :)
