I am looking for the parts to build a decent gaming desktop under $1000 without the monitor. Thank you for any help and input! I do not care about a blue ray / dvd player. I would just like the basics to be able to play games up to Battlefield 3 on Ultra Settings with at least an average of 35 FPS.

Budget: Under $1000
More specific use (what games, what programs): Games like Path of Exile, Diablo 3, all the way up to Battlefield 3 on Ultra Settings with at least average of 35 FPS.
Planned time until purchase: Looking to purchase within the next 30 days or so.
Do you need an Operating System?: Sadly I will need an operating system. ( Adds like another $100 :[ )I am not really a fan of windows 8. Looking for windows 7, 32 bit or 64 bit. I don't really know much of the different between 32 bit or 64?
Do you have any specific preferred components?: A decent GPU that can run games up to Battlefield 3 on Ultra Settings with at least an average of 35 FPS. And I prefer Intel CPU. I for sure want an i5 processor, i7 would be better if possible with budget.
Do you need a sound or wireless card?: Just a decent Wireless Card that can connect to my router for fast speeds with gaming. Usually these are not too expensive?
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: Stock cooling is fine if it will be fine for the build. If you think the build would require more cooling please let me know?
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: No. I can pick these out myself. I am not that helpless lol :] .
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): United States, South East.

Other Useful Info

- Preferred Case Features (Ex: Color, Side Window, Flashy): The case should be the cheapest kind, trying to save money and case looks don't matter as long as it serves its function.
- Other Info?: 1 TB Hard Drive should be well more than enough space, maybe even 750 GB.
Looking for at least 8 GB of Ram. Would more really be better or worth it? Cant see why more than 8 GB would make a big difference?
Also, looking for a quad core processor at least to aid in multitasking.
Also if you think cooling would be an issue please let me know what solution you have in mind? As far as I know, as long as I don't over clock the CPU then cooling should not be an issue?

Thank you for all of your help and input! This is much appreciated !

Thank you for the quick response there Azenor. Looks good as far as I can tell. But the GPU is out of stock at Amazon. Also, I have not seen many 3 GB GPUs before. Would it not be better to get like 2 of the same GPU that are like 1.5 GB each and connect them? Just wondering if the 3 GB on one GPU is not needed?

If you are using 1 screen, 1-2GB of Vram is plenty
But as time goes on, more Vram is being needed.
I personally use eyefinity (3 screens at once) and i hit that 3GB cap often

When crossfire-ing, the Vram of each do NOT stack. You dont add them
If 1 is 3gb, and other is a 1gb, they will both perform as if it had 1gb.

All 7950/7970s are 3gb Vram

I just listed a random one in the build, in 30 days im sure it will be in stock

e/
also,
1 Powerful card > 2 less powerful cards, if prices are held the same
not to mention crossfire can sometimes cause problems, but its happening less frequently
Two cards will also generate more heat.

ok thanks. i will be just using one monitor for now. maybe in a year or so i would upgrade to 2 extra monitors, but will worry about that then. so i will just stick with one gpu. also i read on the reviews for that gpu that it does create a bit of heat. would an extra fan be needed? i dont want to start a fire or damage my computer parts. prefer to spend a few extra bucks on preventing damage than spend alot more fixing the damage.

If you get a graphics card with decent/good cooling than the current gen series runs fairly cool compared to the older generations.

GPU heatsinks/fan should be fine,
but spending more on a case that allows for better airflow/cable management would help too
More airflow would decrease temps, for all parts of the computer

Ive added a CPU cooler, incase you wanted to overclock too. At the very least it will decrease temps even when its not overclocked (although I would really hope to see people overclock such a good CPU)

e/
youtube some of these cards
youll see how bit they are, and their fans

I do not quite understand what you mean by this? I did already read that before? See my first post using those guidelines?

Also, I know I set my budget at $1000. But would it be possible to create a PC with my requirements that is cheaper and can still play Battlefield 3 on Ultra?

Thanks again for the responses guys!

Can def do under 1k
BF3 isnt too demanding imo, and mostly taxing on the GPU

But spend more now, and save more later. You wont have the need (or urge) to upgrade down the road
Or can save money by trying to find things to reuse, like HDD and CD drives

e/
nobody is going to make a build for exactly your budget, the best you're going to get is ideas of what you should get
Prices going to be 100% different in 30 days
