I am working on building my own pc. It will be used for light to medium gaming. ( My wife likes to play games like D and D etc... but not online. I only play LS) I have picked some parts and wanted some opinions on them. Plus I was wondering if I had to buy a new tower since I already have 1 even though it isn't new. I kinda just wanted to buy the parts w/o the tower so that I could get some "higher end" stuff since I can save by not buying a new shell.

Here is what I have and price. :

AMD FX-8120 Processor with Motherboard: $ 130.00
CPU Clock Speed: 3.1GHz
Total L2 Cache: 8MB
L3 Cache: 8MB
Thermal Design Power: 125W
CMOS Technology
AMD64 Technology
HyperTransport Technology

16GB DDR3 SDRAM Memory Module: $ 80.00
DDR3-1333MHz
240-pin
DDR3 SDRAM

2TB Hard Drive: $ 60.00
Stores up to 1,300,000 photos, 571,000 songs, or 1,053 hours of high definition video
Storage capacity: 2TB
Speed: 7200 rpm

AMD Radeon HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card: $ 50.00
Powered by the AMD Radeon HD 7750 GPU with support for Microsoft DirectX 11 to provide graphics power for the most demanding games and 3D movies
1GB GDDR5 onboard memory provides visual realism
PCI Express 3.0 interface doubles the bandwidth per lane for faster communication
512 stream processors
OpenGL 4.2 support
Outputs: HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI

24X DVD+/-RW DL Optical Drive: Free w/ bundle
Dual layer DVD writing technology
Maximum Write Speed: 24X
Compatibility: DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, CD, CD-R, CD-RW

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit: Free w/ bundle

Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Combo: $ 15.00 ( Don't really have to have just wanted wireless so went with the cheapest- if it flunks out it was only 15 bucks)
Slim soft-touch keyboard with 5-button mouse
Plug and play simplicity — no software to install
Single nano receiver connects both wireless keyboard and mouse
Forward and back button on mouse for enhanced internet browsing experience
LED low battery power indicator on keyboard
4 x AAA batteries included

Total: $ 385.00 + tax

Am I missing anything? Any recommendations for changes within basically the same price range? Maybe a few bucks more? I am on a pretty tight budget ( ) which is the main reason I am trying to avoid a new shell. The cheapest one was $ 450.00. I have checked 3 places so far: TigerDirect, NewEgg and Wal-Mart. This is from Wal-Mart. I got so confused when I checked the other 2 because all I could find there were "barebones" kits and I don't really understand that. ( I have a brain issue and I get confused kinda easily sometimes ) Any help, tips, advice I can get is greatly appreciated.

I replied in your other thread.
take a look I'll add other comments here.
here's a bench mark representing your processor
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+FX-8120+Eight-Core
also your am is 1333 mhz, you could easily upgrade it to 1600 mhz, as your processor does support up to 1866 mhz

I noticed you wish to use your currrent case, would you be able to supply which case you have if you are sure what it is?

there is different form factors to consider for your motherboard.

I saw. Thanks. I totally forgot to add that my daughter does iTunes and has 180 MB on this comp and will be adding more before it's over. Plus we will be watching movies/ videos on it as well. I'll try to go by what is in the other post for now but like I said, I'm kinda slow. Sorry. I do appreciate the help.

e/ I have an HP and a Compaq. Compaq is ancient but still works. The HP isn't as old but the system crashed and won't load.

e2/ In add/remove it has 180.00 MB. That's all I know.

I've actually looked more into you graphics card, It'll be a fine buy for the price, as well will do you good for while, considering how expensive some graphic cards are, its definetly a win on the price/quality ratio.

and when you say your daughter has 180 mb im assuming you mean GB, and that is fine then.
the 2tb drive is great and the speeds should work wonders, the SSD was only an option if you wish to receive the best boot speed for certain applications and the operating system as a whole.

your also on a tight budget correct?
Sadly, I cant be 100% sure about your case, but as long as they have extra room in them, and will fit whatever motherboard you are getting them im sure it is fine.

1333 vs 1600 = 1 nanosecond.
1600 vs 1866 = 1.5 nanosecond
btw op could always overclock it.

@op , 16gb of ram is like around 50$ these days...
your power supply matters.
what motherboard is it?

more caching power in the mhz differences.

Caching power >

also he would NOT want to over clock this processor, this processor gives off very high heat temperatures already.
if he wanted to overclock, I'd recommend a watercooling system. which i'm doubting he wants.

if your unsure what caching power is, dont bother starting something over it. wont be worth my time.

lets just keep on topic :)

lol.
overclocking ram isn't possible? derp
watercooling is over rated, you look like some guy that took some formation n think they know allot.
btw , architecture matters more then caching power.
i'm high & i still know more

nn to start an argument, whereas to make yourself look .. not so smart.
This computer is for family use, i doubt he is going to be over clocking anything.

How about this just to avoid a lot of confusion for me and going back and forth between whoever. Just make me a list of things I need and please try to keep me under or as close to $ 500 as possible. I am feeling so lost. I am so sorry guys......
