looks good but idk. i really don't want to change boards again. locked up an old hdd on my first attempt so im not very confident in doing it myself nor want to pay for some1 else to do it. I'll think it over but would prefer to keep the board i have now. Even though it looks like a great deal

not sure if tax is already included but if itis comes out to about 290$ if not it would be about 330-350$. I am able to spend more but idk. It really hurts my budget alot if i do go for it so i would need some convincing to do that.

edit2: i don't have a disc would i would have to get one to reinstall windows. im just not confident in doing a mobo switch w/o corrupting my hdd but i probably just need to research it more.

You'd probably want to reload Windows with a new board, to eliminate driver issues between the AMD and Intel chipsets/processor drivers, as well as any other different hardware on the new board.

The 955 is the best value for an AMD processor currently. With a Hyper 212+ You can overclock it min 3.6Ghz max 4.2Ghz
CPU $100 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113007

Although I would recommend getting an LGA 1155 motherboard and i3 2120 CPU instead

CPU $125 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115077
Biostar Z68 $65 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138344

Is this a correct assessment of AMD processors? or is there possibly a better deal out there

The O.P. has a 212 Plus and a decent AM3+ motherboard, so I recommend a 955 B.E. C3 or a 960T; then, either of those C.P.U.s could be as overclocked to perform better than any of the Intel dual core C.P.U.s.

I see no point for the O.P. to spend money towards another motherboard; wait for Haswell, or hope that A.M.D. can continue to compete.

Reviving this. Still need a new processor. not buying a new motherboard unless its an absolutely irresistible deal. Shipping to chicago, illinois. Under 300$ preferred but i could go higher.

Vishera might be released during the fourth quarter of this year.

If you're still looking, and are going to stick with AMD, then go with what L4d posted above, and get either the Phenom 955 Black Edition, or the 960T,

Well, they're outdated now, but they both overclock well, and should handle stuff for a little while. Bulldozer is a bucket of fail, so I'd avoid that, and wait for Vishera late this year, if you're going to stick with AMD.

I meant the 960T B.E.; Wikipedia shows a non-B.E. 960T, too.
