never built a computer, never purchased a desktop so i dont have a clue what to look for
heard building a computer was pretty simple and much more cost effective than buying one thats prebuilt.

Dota2 doesn't even need the GTX 960. You can get a 750ti instead. However, if you can swing it, the extra graphics power won't hurt.

Dota 2 is right now, play d3 at times and future games as well when they're released.

Hoping that this will last me a while. My parents desktop was purchased 8 years ago and all thats needed was an updated graphics card. Works real good atm

Sorry one thing I missed in op, whats the difference between intel and AMD? I've dealt with intel my entire life so thats what I'm used to

Amd processors if the budget is tight, Intel processors if the budget is bigger. And he means that the 750ti will save you money and is plenty powerful to run Dota 2. Also, I was speaking generally in terms of the cpus, in case the other guys come in here and attack me.

So you can say that it's a good build?
If I spend another couple bucks could I get a huge upgrade?

if you want to buy from a store, theres a Canada Computers in Newmarket. you can pricematch there.

$1000 won't get you anything that great with monitor + mouse + keyboard tbh

yea i wouldnt think so.

the computer im currently using is like 8 years old and was 600 bucks at the time. works great with everything im doing now. all that was needed was a video card change
