Earlier this afternoon my computer started to emit a smell reminiscent to that of burning plastic. I immediately shut it down, and did my best to air my room out.

I've since bought a can of compressed air and cleaned what was an incredible amount of dust, let it sit for 2 hours, and came back home. The smell is lingering in my room, which is quite annoying, but now that I've powered my computer back on, it doesn't seem to be emitting the smell anymore. The CPU is maintaining a regular temperature, and the power supply doesnt seem to smell like anything i smelled earlier.

Should I leave it off? It seems to be working okay now. I believe the smell was previously coming from either the cpu or the power supply, but I can't be sure.

Thanks in advance guys.

yikes, whatever you do... keep a close eye on that sucker while it is plugged in

/e heh, and make sure it is situated in such a way you can reach the off switch on the surge protector without getting close to the computer case!
