I know AMD is cheaper than Intel CPUs usually, but is it just because intel is newer? like isnt amd better performance than some intel and cheaper in some cases?

AMD spends more of their time on moar cores (8-cores)
while Intel likes to keep 4 cores, and add hyperthreading

If you are looking at an 8 core AMD vs. a 3570k,
It depends on use.
Most games will only use 4 cores, and Intel's core are more powerful
AMD has more cores, but are weaker. They perform better w/ programs that use more cores at once

If you are streaming, or doing some hardcore things that require cores, it might be of a better interest to go AMD
But if you do normal activities, and want to play games, Intel will give better performance

Its like 10-20% faster from one to the other

I was debating posting "This fucking thread again?"

It's obviously way to hard to Google benchmarks.

but even at 20 percent slower, would i really notice the difference? whats that like, instead of 1 min time it would be 1 min 25 seconds? i guess it might matter?

Intel = do 1-2 things really fast
AMD = do a shytload of things, almost as fast

20% is alot
especially in frame rates, and how will the computer is going to hold up into the future

Not to mention the 3570k overclocks very nicely, which in turn gives it a greater edge at higher clocks

Its all AMD vs Intel fanboism
Benchmarks go one way and the other

20% less on 100MPH is 80MPH

60MPH -> 48MPH

pretty big difference with driving a vehicle brah

It is not a 20% difference betwern 3570k and 8350, they're at par with eachother

Clock vs clock performance.
