In other words, what chip will YOU build your next desktop around?

I think it would be better to break it up to Bulldozer, sandy bridge, sandy bridge -e, and ivy.

Kind of irrelevant though because we don't know actual performance from BD, IB, SB-E, etc.

Personally, I have a 2500k which is going to be, at least, equal to if not better then BD. I'm gonna wait for IB for my next build, since new gpu arch will be out by then as well.

I left the Sandy Bridge -E's out...because I BELIEVE they are just Intels latest scheme to force folks to switch to the 2011 socket...so when Ivy bridge DOES come out...the motherboard market will allready have a strong base. I do NOT believe that any one will see any drastic improvements between Sandy Bridge and Sandy Bridge-E

I personally will be going for the 8core BD as long as they continue to price their processors at a fraction of the cost of Intel's.

I know Intel > AMD but I'm not willing to shell out the extra coin for the marginal performance gain in real world applications.

That's actually pretty stupid to do right now unless you're spending like $100, which is dumb no matter what processor you go with.

But seirously, if you're spending anywhere near $200, just get the 2500k. It rapes everything including the 2600k in price to performance. Complete and utter rape.
