Looking for something upgradeable. Preferabley with a screen resolution above 800x600.

open to all sizes as well.

was looking at a dual core gateway on newegg, any comments on that? I would love an asus, but the screen resolution kills me.

I will use this for presentations, so a 720 screen, with HDMI would be preferable.

Any Suggestions will Help!

preferrabley netbook, 550 or so.

netbook only because of size and weight convenience.

350 would be optimal for spending though. but I can go a bit higher.

I've got the Toshiba NB200. I bought it about 3 and a half months ago. I'd have to say that it has been great.

I'll give you a rundown:
- Cost me about $400-450 Canadian after taxes
- The screen is the highest resolution on the general market for a 10"
- Screen is bright, battery life management is great
- Has one RAM slot which supports up to 2GB of RAM, comes with a 1GB stick (it's fine since it's a netbook
- Get it with a 6-cell battery. It just out the back, but the battery life goes for 7-8 hours even when watching movies. It's insane.
- The 3-cell is ok (it looks nicer and flush to the body of the laptop), however the battery life is just 3-4 hours.
- If you want the flush 3-cell, I suggest you purchase a 6-cell also (unless if you don't need the battery life).

pros & cons of the Toshiba nb200 overall

PROS:
+ good screen
+ build is solid (keyboard, etc.)
+ comes with 1GB RAM (some come with 512MB)
+ battery life holds up (as should any netbook)
+ has 3 USB slots
+ all-around just good

CONS:
- no specific cons to think of... would be nicer as with any netbook/laptop if the boarder around the screen were smaller (so it's just the screen and nothing else)
- no cd drive, same as any netbook but just remember that

Ill take a look at it, does it come with a HDMI slot? and im assuming it has a 720HD screen? This does sound nice, does anyone know anythng about the gateway on newegg? It is upgradeable to 4GB of ram (which is overkill I know) and has a dual core processor?

It looks like your looking more for a 11-12" notebook as opposed to netbook, your asking a bit more than a typical netbook offers.

yeah the gateway is a 11 inch, im looking for a 10 inch, the dell has a hdmi port, but is not upgradeable, customizable, and is overpriced (talking about the mini10)

the Toshiba does look very nice though. Im reading reviews for it now.

*I wish the EEEpc had 720HD screen, If it did I would buy it in a second.

I'm not sure about the screen (it's a 1000 x 600 resolution... not sure of the exact numbers, I rounded that... but in a 10" screen that's a good res). I have no idea why a netbook would have an HDMI slot (it does have a slot for camera memory cards though).

As for the RAM, like I said it's 1GB and the one slot you are given can take a 2GB stick. Meaning 2GB is maximum. But the processor and graphics card aren't fast at all, so anything higher than 2GB is entirely pointless; 1GB has been fine for me.

The processor is a single-core netbook processor (it consumes ultra low amounts of power to preserve battery life), and operates at I believe 1.66GHz.

If you want something better (with a dual-core, 4GB of RAM, etc), then a netbook is not an option. Netbooks are designed for ultra low power consumption, and one of the sacrifices is performance.

So your best option if you want something that is fairly portable and small while still performing well, try a 12" or 13" notebook. You're only going to get one to two hours of battery life (max) though.

Don't go with Dell by the way. I bought a Dell m1210 and it broke 2 years after getting it. Just straight up ruined. They assembled it very poorly. And I keep my hardware in good condition.

single core is fine, I was just curious on the gateway. my only requirements are a hd screen, a 1.66 would be the preferable processor, and the obvious upgrade to 2gb ram.
