Netgear Armstrong router
Model: cg814wg
Problem: Can't connect to router to change ports(Need to setup port forwarding)
I've tried everything I can think of.
I believe that the routers internal IP is 192.168.0.1
The IP above is ping'able' and I've tried accessing it through ports 80 and 20001 and 8080
I've tried a direct connection
I figure it's setup with custom settings and don't want to reset the router to factory settings due to the possibility of losing phone/internet/cable
Any ideas? I've tried a lot of other things although I figure someone here ought to know something.
I apologise if this is the wrong section although it's the closest thing I could find.

From a Command Prompt type 'ipconfig'. The 'Default Gateway' IP address is likely your router.

This is very basic and I've tried this already, btw I use linux so in the terminal it's 'ifconfig'
Thanks for input anyways.
I have many people working on this including government programmers/sever professionals
Wth did the people who set this up do
Not looking for super basic answers although open to suggestions.

what happens if you try and access 192.168.0.1 through your browser?

Timeout error, we've tried various things on it, it's ping'able though.

The IP is dynamically assigned via DHCP

I believe that you are technically inclined. Although internal IP address can be pinged, it does not mean certain ports are "open".

Some routers basically "close" ALL ports for security measures. But Ports 80, 8080, 20000 are GENERALLY opened for "Web Browsing".

Without these ports open, your web browser is useless.

Can you ping out to real/external IP ? If you can't, the modem does not have proper connection to your ISP,
which in turn did not connect properly to your router.

All port forwarding must be done within the router. You MUST find a way to connect to your router to enable these ports to open.

Port 80 : TCP,UDP Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)

Port 8080 :
TCP HTTP alternate (http_alt)—commonly used for Web proxy and caching server, or for running a Web server as a non-root user Officially Assigned
TCP Apache Tomcat Unofficial Assigned
UDP FilePhile Master/Relay

I do not know why u mentioned port 200001, there is no Officially Assigned protocol to this port.

Nearest poprt address is 20000 for :
DNP (Distributed Network Protocol), a protocol used in SCADA systems between communicating RTU's and IED's Official
Usermin, Web-based user tool
